Diets do not work – truths you probably never knew

For those who have tried, they soon realized: diets do not work.

Everyone has either heard of or has tried to go on a diet. Sadly, most of the time, they fail to stick to it, and give up halfway. This causes them to feel demoralized and go on eating binges because they feel deprived of various foods because of the diet they were on.

This leads to GREATER weight gain. Since you denied your body of food for so long, your body is starving! The moment food enters, your body absorbs as much as it can in case of a future “starvation”.

Many diets promise instant results. They use statements like, “Follow XYZ diet and you will lose 20 pounds, GUARANTEED!”. With more and more people being on the heavier side nowadays, promises of instant weight loss appeals to them.

As there is lack of awareness, many people continue spending fortunes on fast weight loss programs, like risky diets, pills, slimming wraps…

… The list is ENDLESS.

Why Diets Do Not Work

Diets do not work because a lot of times, these diets require you to stop eating one food group altogether. Our body requires sugar and carbohydrates for energy, protein to repair muscle tissues, fat for warmth, just to name a few uses of the different food groups. Even sugar and salt is needed by the body.

I have heard of people who were extremely happy because the “diet” they were on caused them to lose a few pounds on the first day. There are only two possibilities:

  • The diet taught them how to eliminate water weight. The pounds that they shed would return as soon as they have replenished their body with fluids.
  • They starved themselves of a particular food group, or refused to eat altogether. This is a short-term weight loss, because the moment they eat, they will overeat causing them to GAIN weight instead.

Desperate Enough To Follow The Diet In A Movie!

I cannot emphasize how important it is to not fall for such weight-loss miracles. The most incredible story I heard was of a teenage girl who followed the diet Emily Charlton (acted by Emily Blunt) of “Devil Wears Prada” carried out to stay slim.

Emily’s diet was not a diet at all. She didn’t eat anything, and when she felt faint, she would allow herself a cube of cheese!

Diets Can Be Very Damaging

Eating like the character Emily Charlton will not help because diets do not work!

Diets cause you to either gain more weight from depriving your body of the needed nutrients for so long, or you would suffer from digestion-related ailments. Starving your body can cause you to suffer from many complications.

An average adult will require an intake of about 2500 calories a day. Most diets will suggest that you cut your intake to about 1000 calories a day! However, when your body does not have enough calories, it burns your muscles, fat and bone to help boost the amount of calories in your body.

If you are on a diet that promises instant results and the previous paragraph does not scare you, I am quite speechless. However, I will share with you even more dark news.

Irresponsible dieting is estimated to cost about 50000 women their lives! Furthermore, there is reasonable evidence that suggests that many diseases can be caused by diets. These diseases include the following:

  • Depression
  • Infertility
  • Weight gain
  • Death

Isn’t it evidence enough that diets do not work?

Final Words

I am sure that you treasure your life, so please stop neglecting your body. Weight loss can be achieved, and I will show you how, step-by-step.

You do not have to starve your bodies, suffer from stomach ulcers, heart attack and osteoporosis, to lose weight. You simply have to give yourself some time from day to day for some fat-burning workouts.

Weight loss is a tortoise race. Slow and steady. I know how tempting it is to believe in a faster solution, but there simply isn’t any.
