How to prevent really bad acne

You’re probably wondering what steps you can take to prevent really bad acne from spreading, and you’re lucky because we’re going to provide you with a few steps you can take to make sure your acne stays under control.  We do have to warn you that your acne will not stay away on its own after you get rid of it once. If you want to prevent any more really bad acne from forming, you’ll have to be proactive in your approach, not reactive.

If you suffer from really bad acne you may want to ask your parents if they ever suffered from acne in their lives. Chances are your acne is genetic, which will make it a bit more difficult to control. Generally acne will start appearing around the time you or your child begins going through puberty. Acne is also attributed to hormones, and teenagers experience a lot of hormonal changes during puberty.

If you’ve read the bad acne general information page, you’ll know that really bad acne is due to clogged pores. Pores that are filled with oil, dead skin, and dirt allow P. Acne bacteria to thrive and cause acne.

Here are a few preventative measures that will help you with your really bad acne condition:

Wash your face – You don’t need to wash your face 20x a day, but washing it 2-3 times will be ideal. Wash when you wake up, around the middle of the day, and before you go to sleep. If you’ve been working hard and have accumulated a lot of sweat and have touched your face several times, you should wash your face to freshen it up and get rid of excess oil, dead skin, and dirt.

Avoid Oil-based Products – This can include make up containing Oils, or a gel or styling cream for your hair. If you have long hair and use these products, it can very well transfer onto your face from your hair.

Many people don’t realize that some make-up and styling products could be causing their acne, and sometimes even possibly turning it into really bad acne. Just because it’s made for your face or skin, doesn’t mean it’s completely safe to use.

Moisturize – Moisturizing your skin will keep it moist and healthy. If you can help prevent your skin from drying out and clogging pores, you’ll be one step ahead of the game.

Even if you reduce the amount of dead skin by moisturizing, you’ll reduce the severity of your really bad acne condition to a mild acne condition, or even reduce it to a point where it’s barely noticeable.

Medicate – Find an acne solution that you’re comfortable using. There’s several out there: ProActiv, Murad, AcneZine, ZenMed, etc. They’re properly formulated to treat really bad acne with the proper mixture of medicine, toners, and moisturizers.

Commit – If you start a new acne treatment, see it all the way through. Getting rid of really bad acne won’t take a couple of days. You probably won’t see any results for at least a week. And if you continue using your acne kit, you should see a clear face within 3-4 months. It may seem like a long time at first, but the first month will go by in a flash, and you’ll be excited because you will see results if you follow directions.

That will make the next couple months go buy even faster and once you see your new clear skin, you’ll be happier than ever.  So please do yourself a favor and commit yourself to doing what it takes to treat your really bad acne until it’s gone!
